Accessing datetime.year but not equal to int?

I dont get it. When i print dates[4].year it says that the year is 2012 but when I pass the exact thing into my function it says that it being == 2012 is False.

filters.py 
import datetime

dates = [
    datetime.datetime(2012, 12, 15),
    datetime.datetime(1987, 8, 20),
    datetime.datetime(1965, 2, 28),
    datetime.datetime(2015, 4, 29),
    datetime.datetime(2012, 6, 30),
]

def is_2012(arg):
    return datetime.datetime.year == 2012

Hey Andy McDonald, it is the year attribute of the argument arg that should be checked.
