Blurred image in wordpress page

Hi all

Hoping someone on here can help me, I am creating a site based off wordpress for a friend and she wants a feature image on each page. Using the media tools in wordpress I have tried to add images into the content but whatever settings and image sizes I try they always come out blurred when I view the page. Anyone have an idea what I can do to get over this?

Hi Alexander,

Are you using a custom theme? If so, and you revert to a standard WordPress one, does it improve the image quality? It's possible that it could be a style overriding the image dimensions.

If this isn't the issue it may be WordPress' compression on upload. I've seen a few people mention this plugin in forums: https://wordpress.org/plugins/regenerate-thumbnails/.

Please note I haven't used this myself so you'd need to look in to it but it may be a possible solution.

Thanks

Hi Rich

I will checkout the plugin!

I find that if I size down the image significantly then the image in the page is made larger and gets blurring. I suspect that I need to add at a specific resolution but no idea how to find that. I am using the naked wordpress theme. I haven't customised much just a couple of lines of CSS and plenty of plugins.

Hi Alexander,

Sounds very strange. If the image uploaded is smaller than it appears on the page it sounds as though a style could be overriding the dimensions or those you have set in the admin are larger than the uploaded image.

I would double check your media file sizes within Settings > Media. It could be that the images are being cropped to exact dimensions instead of keeping the aspect ratio.

Is it stretching the image to display at larger than it's original size?
