Browser caching with W3 total cache demands force reloads.

Hi this was originally sent directly to Zac, and he suggested posting it here instead. So im gonna try that, here goes:

Hi - this is a question for Zac.

I just finished his great tutorial on how to build a wordpress theme. In the end of it he goes over some performence improvements for wordpress and how to use w3 total cache.

I've set this up, but ive run into a problem i hoped he could clear up for me.

When i enable the "browser cache" i see a great improvement on my site, BUT i have 2 problems.

  1. when i edit pages, i have to force reload to see them on the live site

  2. when logged in, the admin bar disappears unless i force refresh.

This wouldnt be a problem if it was just me admining the site.

but im handing this over to a client now, and im just preparing for a lot of confused experience from their part, unless i uncheck browser caching - and lose the speed that provides.

Is there a solution for this? or is that simply how browser caching works. How do your clients deal with this?

Thank you - looking forward to the wordpress plugin tutorial!

Malthe

If anyone can help out with this, that would be great !

Have you tried swapping your theme, for the default Wordpress theme and seeing if you get the same issues?
