Can I ahve my homestead folder with vagrant file etc and map those to my dev folder elsewhere on my system?

31,709 PointsYes you can have Homestead map files to different folders on you computer. Located the homestead.yaml file inside the homestead folder. Inside that file you should see something like this:
folders:
- map: ~/Homestead/Projects
to: /home/vagrant/Sites
You can change the value of the map attribute to anywhere on you local machine. So for instance, I could map it to a Sites folder in my documents folder:

- map: ~/Documents/My\ Documents/Sites
to: /home/vagrant/Sites
