Can my client view the WP Local Host whilst site build progress?

Hey Guys.

Im very interested in creating the WP Local install using MAMP going forward for all my client site builds, especially the clients whom request their current site to say active (live) whilst I build them a NEW site behind the scenes.

My question is as follows:

Q. If I work on my clients site using Local Hosting (MAMP) will I be able to send them a preview throughout the whole site build (progress)? Once the site is approved then this can be migrated over to my live server hosting?

Please help answer this...Much appreciated

MAMP Pro has a cool feature with Dynamic DNS, which will allow you to do just that. The free version of MAMP will not do this.

You can also have a staging server, where you ftp revisions to your client, and they can view it. This kind of method is popular to have because the staging server should mirror the production server environment so you can also test for any inconsistencies there.

Awesome fast reply Kevin thanks.

Staging server sounds great!! However I'm unable to find any reference on how to setup this feature. Do you have any video or guidance on how to achieve this please.

Check out the modern WordPress workflow course, it goes over the basics of a staging server pretty well. Also if money isn't a huge concern you can host somewhere like WP-Engine; they make creating and using a staging environment as easy as clicking a couple of buttons.
