can't get break to work

I ran into the same issue when putting together the shopping list app. I copied his code into my editor and it refuse to quit the loop, and now I can't get this question right. There's gotta be something I'm missing here, I've tried everything I can think of and nothing works.

breaks.py
def loopy(items):
    if item = 'STOP':
        break
    for item in items:
        print(item)

You're close, but I see two issues:

  • the equality comparison operator is "==" (a single "=" is an assignment operator)
  • you need to perform the test and break inside the loop
