you have a small error, use this instead... i changed "number" to "5", hope this helps :)

def square (number): return number * number result = square ("5") print(result)

The instructions say "call your new function and pass it the argument 3.", but this code is passing the string "number" instead.

Change the argument to  3  to pass the challenge.
