Code doesn't hide $secureLinks. But will hide $odd

code is written exactly as instructed but doesn't run. I use Chrome. If I try to hide $odd it works but if I try to hide $secureLinks it does not.

const $odd = $('a:odd'); const $secureLinks = $('a[hrefˆ="https://"]'); $secureLinks.hide();

I changed the caret to the one that is above the 6 on my keyboard and the links were hidden. Code is below:

const $odd = $('a:odd');
const $secureLinks = $('a[href^="https://"]');
$secureLinks.hide();

Thanks I didn't realize my keyboard settings where off, my 6 key typed the small caret instead of the normal one.
