Python Object-Oriented Python Dice Roller Comparing and Combining Dice

Comparing and Combining Dice. int(self) not clear

I understood what kenneth is doing in this lecture, but I can't understand why in the magic methods to compare different dice values he returns int(self) instead of self.value. Can someone help me to figure it out?

Based on the previous definition, int(self) is self.value. So he's probably using it to demonstrate how one method can use another, plus it's slightly more compact to write.
