cors issue with AJAX basics file

Access to XMLHttpRequest at 'file:///C:/Users/ujoko/OneDrive/Documents/Web%20development/treehouse/AJAX_Basics_Project_Files/stage2/data/employees.json' from origin 'null' has been blocked by CORS policy: Cross origin requests are only supported for protocol schemes: http, data, chrome, chrome-extension, chrome-untrusted, https.

I cant get the files to display in chrome or firefox due to above error. tried some chrome extensions to unblock the cors policy but they didnt work. Any solution/workaround appreciated
