1,485 PointsCSS - I can't figure out how to write this code.
The question is: Finally, target the paragraph that is a descendant of the footer element. Add a color property and set the value to slategrey.
here's the HTML:
<footer> <p>All rights reserved to the state of <a href="#">California</a>.</p> </footer>
Here's the CSS code that I think should satisfy this question: footer p { color: slategrey; }
Please tell me how to make sure I am not using a class selector for 'footer'.
/* Complete the challenge by writing CSS below */
header span {
color: white;
font-size: 26px;
}
.main-content p {
font-weight: bold;
}
#footer p {
color: slategrey;
}
<!DOCTYPE html>

6,724 PointsHi Jim,
The problem you have is that you are using #footer to target the footer. The footer isn't assigned an ID so there is no need to use the #.
Your code should read
header span {
color: white;
font-size: 26px;
}
.main-content p {
font-weight: bold;
}
footer p {
color: slategrey;
}
Hope this helped :)
EDIT: Just removing the # doesn't work on it's own but restructuring the code so that the .main-content p and footer p selecters aren't indented seems to do it. Very strange must be a bug with workspaces or them just trying to teach you best code writing practices!

1,485 PointsHi Martin, thank you for getting back to me so quickly.
The thing is...my first attempt at answering this question was to use the same code you showed me and it didn't like that.
This morning, I took the challenge again and it gave me a different challenge so I was not able to use the code you gave me...
But...I really appreciate your help, OO programming is new to me and it was nice to have a steady hand to help out!
Best! -Jim

Thank you!
