Custom post type and template

I have three custom post types. All were working fine with template files for layout until this morning when one custom post type 'artists' has defaulted to using the archive.php layout. If I change permalink settings to default all works well. If I have it set on post-name, it breaks. Any ideas how to fix? The only thing I can I think is that I may have caused confusion when adding subcategories to a category with a similar name category 'artist' - which i had since deleted the subcategories

Ah not to worry, worked it out, the category had the same name on the database so i deleted the artist category from within the sql file and all is restored, phew! Least I know where to look if ever that happens again.

Yeah, that's a buggy little fix, eh?
