Customizing slider image size within WordPress theme?

I've got a client who wants some cosmetic tweaks to his existing WordPress site for his restaurant. Unfortunately, I don't have any experience with WordPress. Specifically, he wants the image slider pictures to be both larger and slide slower. I found the custom settings for the slider within WordPress and adjusted the speed, but I can't figure out how to adjust the image display sizes. Should I just resize the images in something like Illustrator and reupload them or is there a way to change their display size within the existing WordPress theme?
