Do we need to use opengraph or normal meta tag description will work for me ?

Hey,I couldn't find the main difference between OpenGraph and normal meta tag description? Can I use both in my website to optimize the data? <meta property="og:description" content="this is some content in the content using open graph"/> <meta name="Description" content="this is some content using the normal meta description">

what is the real difference between these two and whydo we use it?Please explain.
