What do you want to do with WordPress? Learn how to use it as a user or learn WordPress so you can develop for it?

If you just want a good understanding of what plugins and themes are etc, and how to add posts and the like, then this is what you need.

If you want to build a WordPress website from scratch, then you need to go way back to HTML and CSS. WordPress is a framework built in PHP. You need a comprehensive understanding of HTML, CSS, jQuery, PHP and mySQL before you can properly learn and understand WordPress.

The wordpress course here are great for beginners. I'd start there. WP is a big beast, and it'll likely take a couple years to reach the true belly of the beast.
