PHP Throwing Exceptions

error_reporting(1);

From the tutorial Alena use error_reporting(1); to only show Fatal error. But I purposely make a syntax error and the screen show Parse error instead of hide the Parse error.

if (!$file = fopen("profile.txt", "r")) { throw new Exception("Unable to access file") }

echo "end of file";

Screen: Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '}' in D:\XAMPP\htdocs\kersing\class\render.php on line 10

There needs to be a semi-colon in the code block where you throw your exception: throw new Exception("Unable to access file");
