FileZilla transfer

I am transferring my files from my downloaded wordpress directory, and it appears that all of the files I am trying to transfer already exist in my public_html directory. However, this is the first time I am doing this, so I am not sure how the public_html directory already has them. Should I just overwrite everything that is there already? Thanks!

You have to be careful.... are you trying to replace an existing site with a new one, or just a couple of files you just edit?

I am setting up a wordpress site for the first time. Honestly, I have no clue how the server already had files on it. I just wrote over the existing files, and have been moving ahead in the course. Everything has been functioning correctly so far. Thanks!

If you installed WP from an automatic install in the Cpanel then yes all of the files would be there. So now all you have to do is use Filezilla (or any other FTP ) to get to your files. Make changes an replace only the files you made changes to. Most likely this changes you are making are to a theme. So just replace those files.

Hope this helps

Thanks for your help! I realize now that I did do an auto install in Cpanel, and then was going through the steps for a manual install. I've been replacing the theme files through Filezilla as I edit them; so I think i have the gist of it now.

Thanks!
