I keep getting the error "Bummer: AttributeError: 'Student' object has no attribute 'praise'"

how do I fix this? What part am I missing?

first_class.py
class Student:
    name = "Shawn"

def praise(self):
    return "You inspire me, {}".format(self.name)

def reassurance(self):
    return "Chin up, {}. You'll get it next time!".format(self.name)

def feedback(self, grade):
    if grade > 50:
        return self.praise()

def feedback(self, grade):
    if grade < 50:
        return self.reassurance()

I made the following changes but it still is not working :(

class Student: name = "Shawn"

def praise(self):
    return "You inspire me, {}".format(self.name)

def reassurance(self):
    return "Chin up, {}. You'll get it next time!".format(self.name)

def feedback(self, grade): if grade > 50: return self.praise() elif grade < 50: return self.reassurance()

That should pass provided your indents are correct. The following passed for me:

class Student:
    name = "Shawn"

    def praise(self):
        return "You inspire me, {}".format(self.name)

    def reassurance(self):
        return "Chin up, {}. You'll get it next time!".format(self.name)

    def feedback(self, grade):
        if grade > 50:
            return self.praise()
        elif grade < 50:
            return self.reassurance()

You may need to restart your browser.

Some hints:

  • You should indent your class methods and properties
  • You only need one feedback method - you can use elif here
