Hi Scott,

Web Hosting for Students is powered by Siteground. A lot can be said about hosting, but I would agree with Zac's choice on Siteground, and think they are a decent company. Probably the best place to learn about web hosting is Web Hosting Talk.

However, to answer your question, yes, they are about the same, although, Web Hosting for Students is considerably less money a year.
