HELP IN HTML Please!!!! An error with linkin a list to "index.html"

please help me pals, thaks a lot!!!!!

index.html
<!DOCTYPE HTML>
<html>
<head>
<meta charset = “utf-8”>
<title> Nuva Apps </title>
</head>
<body>
<header>
<a href=“index.html”>
 <h1> NUVA </h1>
 <h2> App Desing Peru </h2>
 </a>
<nav>
<ul>
<li><a href= “index.html”> Portfolio </a></li>
<li><a href = “about.html”>About </a></li>
<li><a href = “contact.html”>Contact</a></li>
</ul>
</nav>
 </header>
 <section>
<p> Apps for life </p>
 </section>
 <footer>
<p>&copy; 2016 Nuva Apps.</p>
</footer>
</body>
</html>

It appears to me that there is a space between the <a href= and the "index.html" if you set it up like <a href="index.html"></a> it should fix the problem. Hopefully this answers your question.

I think your quotation marks aren't standard. I copied your code and replaced the quotation marks to pass all the challenges.

The space is not normally used between an attribute and its value, but it doesn't cause a problem.

:point_right: Your issue is with the type of quotes used around the values.

You have "fancy" quotes, like used in a word processor program, not the ordinary quotes used in programming. Perhaps you composed your answer in another editor and then pasted it in? Just replace the quotes with the ordinary kind and you'll be good. Examples of both kinds below:

<li><a href=“index.html”> Portfolio </a></li>   // these are "fancy" quotes
<li><a href="index.html"> Portfolio </a></li>   // these are normal quotes
