Hi,

I'd love to start by saying that like Daniel Croft-Bednarski, I also don't understand what you mean with "...not getting proposer responses". Anyway that isn't a reason enough not to drop my tuppence on this.

Given a chance to rate your blog I'd give it a 4 out of 10 and asked if I'd stick around, I'd say no (a strong NO!). Well , why am I saying this? There'S a couple reasons:

  1. There's a lot other blogs out there that publish good WordPress stuff that is worthy.
  2. Your blog doesn't give me a reason to read the stuff you publish, leave alone persuading me to visit again.
  3. You don't offer what you promise.

Let me put it straight, I'm not trying to put you off and neither am I trying to say that you suck at this. I appreciate the work and time you've invested in your blog (why the hell should I not - only if I was a hater) but without me highlighting the bad stuff I would not be helping you get better at all. So, please bear with me.

I've seen you've said that as far as you're concerned the blog looks pretty neat (both design-wise and SEO-wise). This leaves me with a question, are you not minding about what everyone else (the readers) is concerned about? As for me, and I know many others would agree with this, I don't give a damn about your design or what your SEO (whatever that is) is, I give a damn about the CONTENT!! If the content isn't to the heights of persuading me to read then I won't and so I'll end up seeing the other things I'm not supposed to, like design and how many comments or shares the post has received. Is that what you'd like me to come and do in your blog? I bet not, you'd rather have me come and read your content and take several actions like subscribing other than have me visit to just critic how bad or good the design is.

Let me take you out of the topic a bit. Given that there's a lot of magazines out there, how do you pick the ones you want to read? To speak the truth, I really don't know how you pick one. But to me and I bet to also lots of people out there, the cover is a huge determinant. The better and catchy the cover headlines are (not forgetting about the cover image), the more likely I would end up buying the Magazine. What if I buy it only to realize that it's full of mediocre content? The answer is simple, I won't buy it again. Now relate this to your blog.

I have noticed that your blog post titles are not very convincing and don't imply occurrence of great content in the article either. The blog is also full of spelling mistakes making me feel that the writer (you) are not serious enough to give a second thought about proofreading the content you put together.

What I'd recommend is you think of your blog as a magazine. Here's how and why:

  1. Write great headlines - they make the reader want to read your stuff.
  2. Compelling content - this makes the reader want to come back for more and also trigger actions like sharing and commenting.
  3. Add cool images that align with the content - they make everything interesting.

Now, go proofread your posts and make sure you correct all those misspelled words, write great content, and don't wait your blog to be an overnight successful because there other stuff you need to consider like finding your voice and also your Unique Selling Proposition (USP).

Happy blogging :)

Hi Joseph,

Thanks for your great feedback.this is the reason why i want to post this topic here . before proceeding, i want to say one thing that i'm not a professional English writer.i'm sorry for that but i'm trying to improve writing skills.

About Reader,I don't think a blog writer will blog him self by neglecting audience.for me audience are everything .

About content, Yes my dream is big about the content in my blog.this is like on going process .my aim in creating this blog is to share my personal daily working experience with WordPress.i sure that i'm doing the same. and yes there is still more to improve like high class content etc..

Why i'm saying all these is, just because your feedback hit me very badly .but no problem because I've to know what is bad in my blog.then only i can create a good blog by overcoming all bad.

I really appreciate your time in giving feedback. Thanks :)

I'm guessing English isn't your native language from how your last forum response reads, it's only halfway readable. Maybe blog in your native language, that could be your niche, high quality Wordpress info in your native language (whatever that happens to be).

Yes.But that won't work.because targeted audience are very less. and another reason is that i don't want English to be like a hurdle to my progress :)

You might not want it to be the case, but it is.

You need to have strong written English skills before people fluent in English will take your blog seriously, fair or not that's the way it goes on the Internet.

I agree with this, Spending half your time trying to understand what you mean doesn't make good reading material. A small audience that understands is better then a big audience that doesn't understand.

Gopi:

You may want to have a large number of views and responses in a large field, but it is difficult even for people who are native English speakers to attract that audience.

I would agree that if you target the audience in your native language, you might have a smaller amount of views and responses in total, but you will be the thought leader for WordPress in your native language, which can provide more value to you overall.

This is a good example of niche marketing. Instead of aiming for a small slice of a larger pie, you aim for a large slice of a smaller pie, and you have a much better chance of controlling that audience. Best of luck to you.

Interesting conversation here folks! What is your native language? If there isn't a huge market for it that may actually work to your benefit. Then you can try using a multilingual plugin to practice converting some of your posts to English.

Hey Zac, My native language is Telugu,AP a state in india :)

So here's the thing: if you're just looking to blog and build sites primarily as a learning experience, then go for English. You'll learn a ton in the process. If you're looking for employment or credibility from an English speaking audience then I would highly recommend against making your site in English. There is too large a chance that linguistic difference will prevent people from recognizing your true worth.

On the other hand: There are more than 70 million people who spoke Telugu in 2001 (couldn't find a more recent census report) and based on searches (in English mind you) there are very little resources or web companies with Telgu as the primary language. You really could dominate the market. SEO experts definitely suggest that it's better to go after a niche area and succeed than a huge market and get nowhere.

Just my thoughts mate, hope they help :)

ps - I've always wanted to visit Andhra :)

Thanks Zac ... really helpful stuff.as you are one of my favot teacher and fellow on treehouse ..here are some of facts about my local markets. 1.local monthly search about wordpress from my region are just in some thousands (around 14-16k)

  1. blogging is not so popular in our region (AP). so peoples who are looking for this information are very less.
  2. still many bloggers (who ever have been blogging) will use blogger.com, on which i stopped blogging more then 2 years ago ;)

For now my main intention in blogging about WordPress is to help the beginners and to showcase my experiments with WordPress. i'm also interested in building open source themes.so those things also will go in blog.

its nice to here ...!! how you came by this interest (visiting andhra) ? :)
