what am I missing?

creating_functions.py
def hello_student(name):
    val = "Hello " + name
    return val

hello = print(hello_student(kevin))

You're close, but there's two issues:

  • you don't need to "print" anything for this challenge
  • to make a string literal argument, put quotes around "kevin"
def hello_student(name):
    val = ("Hello " + name)
    return val
