How do I get it signed remotely?

In most cases I won't be able to meet the client in person. How do you recommend I get a signature or a legal agreement to the contract? Can I scan it and send them a copy, then receive a scanned copy with a signature?

You could do the scan and send method or you could try an online service like DocuSign or something similar. There are upsides and downsides. You'll likely have to pay to use an online service, but the scan and send method is a pain and very inconvenient.
