CSS CSS Basics (2014) Basic Selectors ID and Class Selectors

how do I properly call <header class=main-header> upon the css page using class selector? header.main-header is incorrec

I'm still learning and suspect that I'm only off by inverting my syntax. I know I've seen in past example when <p class=hometown> to call them into use in CSS by p.hometown { background-color: orange;}

Hi Trish,

header.main-header will work but you have a typo on the color 'orange'

It's enough though to only use the class selector .main-header

You don't have to type qualify the selector by adding header in front. I think the instructions are leading you to only use the class name.
