How to Build a WordPress Theme -Activating a Custom Theme

My wpportfolio theme isn't showing up under available themes. Does anyone know how I can get my theme to show up?

Are you sure that your theme is in the right directory?

WordPress gets its themes from inside the wp-content/themes folder. Inside of that folder, create a subfolder for your theme.

You've got all the necessary files as well. Index, style. Declared all the necessary info in the stylesheet. Check path of theme etc.

Its showing up in Appearance now....relocated my files to C:\xampp\htdocs. Great responses, thank you.

That will do it. You must treat Xampp as if it was a real web server. All sites go in htdocs...just like when you upload via FTP.
