Local Wordpress Development right here on Treehouse might be just the tutorials you're looking for.

There are a number of other tutorials available online, and just typing that plus your preferred operating system will likely provide something if you're looking for a written tutorial instead of a video guide. I've got a feeling the treehouse course there should be fine, though!

Hey! You can edit Wordpress locally by using a local server, http://premium.wpmudev.org/blog/how-to-install-wordpress-locally-for-pcwindows-with-xampp/ This is an example using Xampp but there are others like Wamp or Mamp.

One of the beginner php or wordpress courses show you at the start, I forget which one it was.
