How to fix task 3?

Task 3 is a challenge for me. I tried many times yesterday, but it failed always.

def add(x,y):
    total = float(x) + float(y)
    return total

Hey there :)

try this:

def add(n1, n2):
    try:
        a = float(n1) 
        b = float(n2)
    except ValueError:
        return None
    else:
        return a + b
