Python Python Basics Functions and Looping Raise an Exception

I am completely lost on this. honestly beyond me that we cant just view the answer in order to further learning.

suggestinator.py 
def suggest(product_idea):
    return product_idea + "inator"

if len(product_idea) < 3: 
    raise ValueError

def suggest(product_idea):
    if len(product_idea) < 3: 
        raise ValueError
    return product_idea + "inator"

You need to have the if statement inside the function if you want the function to raise the ValueError.
