you need to select the anchor element for the pseudo class like this 

a:link {
  color:orange;
}

Link is a pseudo-class, which means it needs to be added to a selector Pseudo-classes.

In this case, you would want to use: 

a:link {  
  color:orange;   
}

Which will select any <a> link that has not been visited.

Edited to add the language after the first three `. That is what colors it and makes it easy to read.
