i can't seem to assign a variable to a struct and initialise it, such as item or amount,

hi i can't seem to initialise a variable to a struct , when i check preview it gives me a blank page

struct.swift 
struct Expense {
    var description: String
    var amount: Double
    var item: String

    init (description: String) {
        self.description = description
        self.item = " hello"   
        self.amount = 100 
   }

func calculateTaxes(percentage: Double) -> Double  {
return self.amount*(percentage/100)
