CSS CSS Basics (2014) Understanding Values and Units Styling the Intro Paragraph

I can't seem to get this. This is the question: In the style sheet, select the intro class and add a font-size property.

In the style sheet, select the intro class and add a font-size property. Using 16px as the parent font-size context, give intro an em font-size value equivalent to 20px.

This is my code, in the style.css:

.intro: { font-size: 1em; }

index.html
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
  <head>
    <title>Lake Tahoe</title>
    <link rel="stylesheet" href="page.css">
    <link rel="stylesheet" href="style.css">
  </head>
  <body>
    <header id="top" class="main-header">
      <span class="title">Journey Through the Sierra Nevada Mountains</span>
      <h1>Lake Tahoe, California</h1>
    </header>
    <div class="primary-content t-border">
      <p class= "intro"
         >
        Lake Tahoe is one of the most <span>breathtaking attractions</span> located in California. It's home to a number of ski resorts, summer outdoor recreation, and tourist attractions. Snow and skiing are a significant part of the area's reputation.
      </p>
      <a href="#more">Find out more</a>
    </div>
    <footer class="main-footer">
      <p>All rights reserved to the state of <a href="#">California</a>.</p>
      <a href="#top">Back to top &raquo;</a>
    </footer>
  </body>
</html>
style.css
/* Complete the challenge by writing CSS below */
.intro {
  font-size: 1em;

It just a matter of converting px size units values into em size unit values.

By saying parent font-size = 16px Simply means that 1em = 16px

Thus if 16px = 1em Then 20 px is definitely greater than 1 em.

Just take 20px divide by 16px and muliply by 1 em, and your font-size value is given in ems.

Therefore

 (20px / 16px) x 1 em  =  1.25em

Thats the formula.

px_value /parent_px-value x 1 em

Hey Elizabeth, the em unit is based off the font-size for the parent element. The standard font-size is 16px. So with a parent element font-size of 16px = 1em, adjusting to 20px = 1.25em.

Essentially, em units are relative units that can scale based off the parent element.

Thank you!

.intro{ font-size:1.25em; }
