I gave .secondary-content div a class of "group" ... not sure what else to do ?

where did i go wrong ? seems i just need to add class of group in the HTML to clear in css

Only have one class attribute is allowed per element, but you added a second. Simple add "group" to the existing class attribute, and remove the one you added:
