I had this same problem yesterday. I was using Wed Hosting for Students. I opened a support ticket with them and they fixed the problem in a few hours. I found no way to fix it myself.

Here is their reply: Hi,

We are reinstalling our auto installer suite, which should solve the problem. Our apologies for the inconvenience. We'll let you know as soon as we've tested a WP install on your account.

Thanks! Support

Web Hosting for Students

Oh you are a hero ! Thanks for your reply , i sat 3 hours trying to figure it out yesterday . I tried again now and It just worked :) . Cheers

I answered a similar question earlier so i'd post that.

Are you doing the manual install? If yes, it says " You have an error in your SQL syntax" so somewhere when creating the database some query was written wrongly. Either try finding the bug or do the 1 click install (if you have done it already then wordpress is already installed.) You can also check out this post for more tips on what others tried to do to solve that issue, but overall it says you have a syntax error so finding that might be the solution.

Thanks for your reply. Sorry I amvery new to that. But in the video i notice they say to contact my hosting company for "one click wordpress install". In that case is Cpanel my hosting company or who?

No your hosting company is the place/website that you access cpanel from. Where is that? Also have you done the 1 click one? Are you in the 5 min one?

I am following the steps in the videos given by the course. I assume my host would be webhostingforstudents.com . Do you think I should contact them ?

In the website it says "Unfortunately we cannot provide phone support or support for 3rd party services and software. We would love to, but our student level prices don't allow us to at this time." Your hosting does provide the 1 click install, when you log into it...the user interface you see with the several icons and tools is the cPanel. There should be an icon called "WordPress". The instructor shows how it is done so try rewatching the video.

I watched the video few times already, and I am following it step by step . Still getting the same error. I am doing the 5 min one, I dont know where the 1 click one is . Any ideas?

This is the WordPress 1 Click install.

Ps if you have issues findinf cPanel, upload a screenshot of what you see when you log into your hosting account at the student webhosting. Maybe I can help you figure out your cpanel.
