10,317 PointsIf I understand correctly $name is used in function as a temporary variable thats not global?
So $name variable is created to only work with this function which is named hello? we output $names but not singular. I think I need to see some more examples indepth thanks.

Courses Plus Student 21,242 PointsYes, in PHP, variables used in functions only have a local scope; they can't see outside of their function, and the rest of your code can't see them inside.

Courses Plus Student 21,242 PointsYou're welcome. Note, however, that you can access global variables from inside a function by using the keyword
global
before the variable. It's not used a lot, but it can be occasionally useful.
