You need to put your list items inside a "< ul >" and a closing "< /ul >". An unordered list tag or an ordered list tag is a parent of the list item (li) tag.
<ul>
<li>"portfolio"</li>
<li>"about"</li>
<li>"contact"</li>
</ul>
Most tags need closing with a second "closing" tag. The main exeptions are the
<link>, <hr /> <img> and <br />
tags.
