Improving the Random Number Guessing Game

I cannot figure this out, it will not run the program. No prompts are popping up and nothing else will happen either.

var correctGuess = false;
var randomNumber = Math.floor(Math.random() * 6 ) + 1;
var guess = prompt('I am thinking of a number between 1 and 6. What is it?');
if (parseInt(guess) === randomNumber) {
  correctGuess = true;
} else if ( parseInt(guess) < randomNumber ) {
    var guessMore = prompt('Try again. The number I am thinking of is more than ' + guess);
  if (parseInt(guessMore) === randomNumber) {
      correctGuess = true;
  }
} else if ( parseInt(guess) > randomNumber ) {
    var guessLess = prompt('Try again. The number I am thinking of is less than ' + guess');
  if (parseInt(guessLess) === randomNumber) {
      correctGuess = true;
  }
}
if ( correctGuess ) {
    document.write('<p>You guessed the number!</p>');
} else {
    document.write('<p>Sorry. The number was ' + randomNumber + '.</p>');
}

Moderator edited: Corrected the markdown so the code would render properly. Blank lines missing between the backticks. -JN

I also can't figure out how to format the code when posting through a question.

You almost had the markdown spot on! I added "js" to the end of your top set of backticks and a blank line afterwards. Then I added a blank line between your code and the bottom set of backticks. If you click on the question and choose edit, you can see exactly what I did :sparkles:

Hi there! Quite simply, you have a runaway single quotation mark which is causing an error and it can no longer interpret the script. Here's the offending line:

var guessLess = prompt('Try again. The number I am thinking of is less than ' + guess');

It should look like this:

var guessLess = prompt('Try again. The number I am thinking of is less than ' + guess);

//Note the removal of the last single quotation after guess

When I delete that single quotation, your code runs like a charm! :sparkles:

thanks lol, hard to find such a small problem!

That syntax coloring can be helpful in such cases!
