You have the right idea, but:

  • the "X" direction is left and right, up and down is "Y"
  • positive values move right (X) or down (Y), "up" would require a negative value

Hi, I have tried all types of values negative, positive on both the X and Y direction, but am still getting the same error ?

Did you try this setting?

.photo:hover .overlay {
   transform: translateY(-100%);
}

ok that worked, but I dont understand why it only took the negative value, 100% should have also moved it from its position.

Sure, but a positive value would move it down. The instructions ask you to move it up.
