Is it possible to build a website like airbnb or uber on wordpress?

I would love your opinion on something. Do you think it is possible to build a website like airbnb or uber using wordpress. These kind of websites (Peer to Peer) have a lot of functions and grow as the business grows. If not, any recommendations. Thank you very much.

Everthing is possible.

E.g. where I work we have integrated a laravel backend with a wordpress.

we aggregate business news content and provide stats about the Kenyan Stock Market.

We decided to use wordpress since it has most features built in already and editors are used to it so my boss decided we need to give them a tool they are already used to.

The aggregation of stock market data and is done using nodejs to a mongodb backend which is then supplies an api to communicate with the laravel 'mother' that is the glue to it all.

All I'm saying,...in short, you can use it but esp if you find features that wordpress functions are not enough and can check out this blog which shows how to integrate laravel with wordpress

Happy hacking

Airing yes. Uber no.

AirBnB is basically a listing site with some ecommerce and messaging abilities. You would have to be a WP expert to get some of that complex functionality they have, but a basic knockoff you could do.

Uber isn't even a website, it's a mobile app. This would not be a good fit for WordPress.
