is it smart to do this

i'm thinking of becoming a expert in wordpress using treehouse but i'm wondering is smart to use my own macbook as a localhost plus any tips on become a wordpress expert .

Jonathan:

You can use your own computer as localhost, but then you won't really be able to share that with anyone else. My advice is simple: Build things. Start simple, make things that are interesting, work well and look good. Keep pushing the limits of what you know and feel comfortable with. Write about what you have learned on your own website. Rinse and repeat.
