Is web development still there or should I move to mobile app development?

I'm between web development and mobile app development. One friend told me the web is dead and I should learn mobile app development nowadays. Is that true?

Thanks

"The web is dead"???     Is your friend practicing to be a stand-up comedian?   :speak_no_evil:

It is true, however, that both the demand and average salaries for mobile app developers is a bit higher at the moment. But some speculate that HTML5 mobile application development may overtake native apps in the near future, and a solid set of web development skills would prepare you well to take advantage of this trend.

Steven Parker looking at your profile I don't know what you are specialising in. Are you towards web or mobile apps :)?

I only discovered Treehouse late in my career. My (recent) experience is primarily web apps.
