learning WordPress-setup stage with MAMP. on a mac and the pref. window ie. Ports is different and wont work

I'm learning WP and the am setting up MAMP. The window for Ports is different and doesn't give the same info that is being taught. I can't change port 8888 to 80. It won't work. Please advise.

Hi Holly,

Are you receiving an error when you try to change the port?

Thanks

Hi Holly,

This may not be the solution yet but can you try this just in case please?

  • Make a note of your current settings in case you need to revert them
  • Load MAMP
  • Click on Preferences
  • Click on Ports
  • Set Apache Port to 80.
  • Set Nginx Port to 7888.
  • Set MySQL Port to 3306.
  • Click OK.
  • Click Start Servers.

Any difference?

-Rich

Can you post the error please?
