New project, where to start?

Hey guys! A local business in my area asked me to take a look at their WordPress website and tweak it to the best of my ability for a small price and I agreed. I am familiar with building web-pages and sites through FTP, but I haven't really done any work with WordPress or other CMS's. I am going through the WordPress courses here on Treehouse, but could any of you recommend any other resources or specific courses that will help out my position?

There is a fairly steep learning curve with WordPress in my opinion, especially if the site has a custom theme designed and coded by someone else. I hate to say this but I wouldn't have accepted a paid for job from a business when I had no experience with the CMS the site was built in, that could come back to bite you. That being said the WordPress courses on here are very good, Zac is a very good teacher and the videos he has done are easy to follow. Specifically the WordPress Template Course this helped me a lot when I started using WordPress. The Local WordPress Development and the Theme Building with Bootstrap or Foundation are also very good.

The WordPress Codex is another great resource for learning. You will need some basic PHP knowledge also as a lot of the code used in WordPress is PHP.

I hope the project is a success.
