Did you place classes and id's correctly? It's very important. CSS needs to refer to something. There supposed to be a class="main-header" in <h1> element. <h1 class="main-header">

.main-header {
  background-color: orange;
}

.main-heading {
  font-size: 72px;
}

#main-content {
  background-color: lightsteelblue;
}

got it- try:

h1.main-heading { font-size: 72px; }
