2,292 PointsOn stage 3 creating HTML< on the creating a nav link with the 3 list items why is the "Portfolio" link named index.html?
I'm wondering why of the 1st of the 3 list items is named index.html for the href link and not named "portfolio"? Is there a rule that says you must name the 1st list item the name of the document your on? Please clarify.

12,662 PointsThe Portfolio page itself doesn't need to be index.html, but your site needs an index.html file in it's directory so your server will properly serve up your site. The index.html file serves as a default page name that a server looks for when someone enters the URL to your site (particularly in the circumstances where they don't enter a specific file to go to, blah.com vs. blah.com/about.html).
In this course, the Portfolio page is located in the index.html file because it has also been designated as the 'home' or initial landing page for the site.
