Photoshop?

So in this video, is he saying that photoshop is NOT an open source which means you cannot change the software code itself. But can i still use the images i create from photoshop for commercial uses ?

Hi shaun kelly, when a software is open source means that you cannot access/modify its source code or reselling it (if not specified in the agreement). Anyway if you create imageor creative content with your software that are original works (meaning that you didn't just downloaded from internet or bought and then imported in Ph) you have the right to release them in the way you want, so you can either sell it or just release under a cc type license making them available to use to everyone. Just to be clear i'll do an example: I create some icons from scratch using Photoshop and Illustrator, then i can sell them or give away for free but there is an exception. If your content is a photo you're protected only if it's retouched in a creadive way, so you you just take a picture of a hill and then add a filter you don't have a copyright, otherwise your work is protected for 20 years. Obviusly all can change depending on the type of license that you give to the custore (non-modification, personal use only, and so on..) Hope i was enough clear, Bye!

It depends on your license type. If you have any license, you can use it. Otherwise, unfortunately you can't use your images. By the way, Open source is not means whether use your images or not. It's related with source codes. In Open Source projects, you can access the product's blueprint, design etc. with your free license.
