Plugin Best Practices Quiz

Hi there,

Sorry to bother you all for something so trivial but there's a question I just can't get. I don't want answers, but I've obviously missed the main drive of the question and would appreciate guidance on where I might have gone wrong in the above quiz? (In the "How to Make a Website with WordPress" project).

The question is:

To upload a plugin's files to your site you would _______ the plugin. To turn the plugin on, you would _______ it.

It's the first part of the question that stumps me. I'm not sure if the question is referring to the process of getting the files onto the server, or extracting them from an archive before uploading, or even just choosing the zip file from the "Upload plugin" dialogue. If anyone could suggest what process the question refers to, this would really help me understand what the answer might be.

Obviously, I'm assuming (hopefully correctly) that I got the second part of the question right. I assumed it has to do with making the plugin active within the "Installed Plugins" screen but if I'm mistaken, would be very grateful for a nudge.

I'm hoping I've managed to avoid using any of the actual answers in this text but please do let me know if I haven't.

Angela

I think you need to think about the question as if you were doing everything through the WordPress admin. Forget how you would do it all manually for this particular question. Run through the steps in your local build and it will soon become clear.

The answer is "install" & "activate".

Heh, was overthinking it!

Thanks for the pointer (and peace of mind!) - much appreciated!!

i wish on multiple field fill in the blanks they would tell you what line is incorrect.
