Plugin does not work with treehouse portfolio theme

Hi

I have tried using a plugin on my site which I built using the Wordpress Theme Development course. I contacted the plugin developer and he could not figure out what the problem was, so he suggested testing his plugin using twentyfifteen theme, and his plugin worked perfectly. I then tested it on another theme and again it worked perfectly. So I downloaded the project files for the course and again his plugin did not work.

The plugin is the Ajaxify WordPress Site

Please can someone help, otherwise Zac, if you can work on a tutorial on how to add ajax to a theme, so we can load content without having to reload the page, and include page transitions, that would be a big help.
