Post Excerpt

Hello. Im using the twentythirteen theme. When Im posting a new post, it shows the whole post and not the summarized version. I tried few solutions like this one http://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-themes/how-to-display-post-excerpts-in-wordpress-themes/ but with no success.

Can you confirm whether you are using the_content or the_excerpt please?

If you're already using the_excerpt can you post your code please?
