Recommend certain image ratio in a theme

I saw in a theme recently that you are able to recommend a certain aspect ratio for a image that is uploaded into wordpress. There was a modal that said something like "save image and crop" or something similar when uploading a photo for the slider.

I have a image slider on my front-page and I want to have photos in a certain aspect ratio in there. And when my client maybe uploads more photos to it, I want him to be forced to crop them in a certain ratio.

How is it done?

Hi Marius, I am not sure the aspect ratio is the only thing to deal with. How heavy is the image is also very important. If your user loads a very heavy image, your response time is going to be very long. As far as I am concerned, I would say the best way is to train the users and to verify from time to time that they are not breaking all your design, in your slider as for everything else in the website you provide to them. Hope it helps? Franck

Hi Franck, thank you for your reply. Yeah probably you are right. The thing is that I've seen that a theme ("Sydney" by aThemes) has done it and I was more curious how they did it ;)
