Responsive images with WordPress

I just completed the Responsive Images HTML course. Its actually a topic that I have been struggling with for a while because I build responsive themes in WordPress. Is there an easy way to either use the picture element or img srcset within WordPress?

Let's say hypothetically that my client had a blog which needed responsive images, I would imagine that the client would have to crop each photo to the correct size variations. I would imagine that there are plugins to handle this, but I am unfamiliar with any.

Maybe I'm over thinking this, does anyone have a good end-user friendly way of handling this issue?

I found a good answer. Smashing Magazine has a good article about using RICG Responsive Image Plugin. The article/documentation on how to use the article into a custom theme can be found here: http://www.smashingmagazine.com/2015/02/24/ricg-responsive-images-for-wordpress/
